upcoming: Japanese adventure

July 6-9, 2017

JOIN US IN AN ACTION-PACKED ADVENTURE IN japan mixed with fast-paced city experiences and calm rural retreats

From Thursday, July 6 to Sunday, July 9, 2017,  Flow Journeys will bring 60 amazing people to Japan.

This will be a four-day, three-night adventure designed to bring the group into "flow" while experiencing non-tourist Japan. We’ve built this journey to minimise travel time while optimising exposure to authentic Japanese traditions and modern tech-led innovation. We’ll begin with a celebratory dinner among creative talents in Tokyo, and then move west to Kyoto and Osaka, combining city experiences with calm rural retreats – taking over a beautiful traditional ryokan. This will be a gastronomic journey too, and our programme will feature culinary experiences overseen by our food curators, Mark Emil Hermansen and Lars Williams, formerly of Noma restaurant in Copenhagen and now of Empirical Spirits.

Some of the experiences we are planning (subject to change before the final itinerary) include:

  • Special opening-night dinner with some of Tokyo's top creative talent;
  • Karaoke celebration and after-party at an underground club;
  • Relaxation in a traditional ryokan that's all our own;
  • Travel in our own shinkansen bullet-train carriage;
  • Taste Osaka's intense street-food scene;
  • Lessons in making fresh tofu and wasabi;
  • A few very special meetings;
  • But mostly, getting to know some wonderful hand-picked fellow guests over intense shared experiences.

Previous journey: Brazil Carnaval

February 24-28, 2017

AN  ADVENTURE IN THE HEART OF BRAZIL DURING THE LARGEST PARTY ON EARTH

From Friday, February 24 to Tuesday, February 28, 2017,  Flow Journeys  brought 50 amazing people to Brazil for our second adventure. This action-packed take on Carnaval was an epic journey to a top destination for Brazilians – Salvador, the country's first capital and home to the world's largest street party. It's a top bucket-list item for many of us.

This was an unique opportunity to experience Brazil in a luxurious but authentic context, with an agenda designed by local specialists to keep us safe while offering us access that tourists don't get. For our home base, we took over an entire quality hotel at the beautiful beach of Praia do Forte, an expat artists' village, filled with culture, eco-tourism and top cuisine.

Some of the experiences we included:

  • Joining the largest Carnaval parade in the world with bespoke abadas (costumes);
  • Join music stars in an overnight Carnaval party at a bespoke seaside nightclub;
  • Taste award-winning Afro-Brazilian cuisine;
  • Take a yacht ride to the Tirolesa: a 340-metre-high zip line to the beach.
  • But mostly, enjoy getting to know some wonderful hand-picked fellow guests over intense shared experiences.
A once in a life time experience, an unforgettable long weekend that kicked off great relationships.

PREVIOUS journey: Iceland

Sep. 29 to Oct. 2, 2016

A land sculpted by lava and ice, where geysers burst, glaciers gleam and emerald valleys stretch all the way to the ocean.

From September 29 to October 2 2016, Flow Journeys brought 50 amazing people to Iceland for our launch adventure. Over three days and nights, they built friendships and memories on an exhilarating journey, amid a compelling wilderness of extremes as we explored by all-terrain vehicles and on foot. We travelled from the heights of the tempestuous snow-capped volcanoes, to the mellow muddy lowlands of the national park; from the piercing cold of the huge glacial caves to the sultry steam of the geothermal lagoons.

Some of the experiences in our itinerary:

  • Descend 120 metres into a (non-active!) volcano;
  • Superjeep expedition to a glacial peak;
  • An evening with Reykjavik's creative entrepreneurs;
  • Private reception with the President of Iceland;
  • Live music on an island;
  • Down-time in a secret geothermal lagoon;
  • Workshop on location with a star nature photographer.
Thanks for an amazing experience, way beyond expectations (and I tend to have pretty high expectations). The Iceland you have shown us was surprising, exciting, energising, thoughtful and fun! You did an incredible job at injecting magic in every single detail and at every single step. When the same trip can make you laugh and cry, exercise and reflect, connect and meditate, feel that you’re a very small piece in a vast world and a driver of change - you know that you have experienced something very special…

It was an extraordinary experience...I’m convinced I’ll be launching projects with the amazing people you brought together.
— S.Q., Austria
Fantastic design and execution... I was meeting the vast majority of the participants for the first time and I cannot quite believe the depth of friendships that were formed in such a short space of time.
— S.M., United States
This weekend gave us a priceless gift that we will cherish for years to come. This feeling of closeness as if we’ve all been to a month-long summer camp is clearly a net result from the state of flow you guys put us under. You make magic and double rainbows happen.
